Behind The Scenes - April 21st 2018

Behind the scenes on one of my on-location editorial photoshoots from a few months back.

Day at the Beach

These are a few photos from our day at the beach with my wife and our girls. Family photos on film automatically have this warm feeling of nostalgia when I revisit it compared to an image I might have taken on my iPhone or a digital point and shoot. I don't know what it is, but it has a quality to them that I can't explain. It slows down the process of taking a snap and delays the time when I can review the images I have taken. Often times I forget what I shot until I get them developed. This process takes me back to the 90s when I was first introduced to film photography, but at the time nothing had the immediacy of today's digital medium, so I didn't know any better.

I just developed 2 rolls of film that I've been slowly working through over the last year and it's amazing to revisit some of these forgotten memories. It's so special when I see the older photos where my girls only just learned how to stand and not even walk yet. My past year has been compressed into a few photos shot on a few rolls of film.
